Mind in Motion Cycle Group - Transition Age Mental Health

A cycling-based programme in Basildon and Tendring to support young adults (age 17 to 25) with low emotional wellbeing as they transition into adulthood. Our programme will provide a series of weekly bike rides, focused on wellbeing and skill development that will include local rides within the area and off-road excursion rides to locations in nature.It is completely FREE to join the group. You will be asked to complete a short survey at the start and end of the programme.

We are due to start running the cycle sessions in August 2025. There will be a mixture of weekday cycle rides (afternoon/ early evening) and weekend cycle rides (daytime), with roughly one cycle ride per week in each area (Basildon/ Tendring). Cycle rides will continue throughout the summer and into Autumn, until weather permits. 

We have two distirnct cycle cycle groups in Basildon and Tendring areas. We will begin with local rides in each area, and will progress to excursions across Essex (transportation will be provided free of charge). The cycle rides will be mostly off road, and we will provide bicycles for those who do not have their own. 

In Basildon, local cycle rides will take place in the following locations: Gloucester Park, Northlands Park, Wat Tyler Country park. 
In Tendring, local cycle rides will take place in the following locations:

We can provide bicycles and helmets to participants, however you are welcome to use your own bike, as long as it is suitable for the terrain and safe to ride.

Who can use this service?

Young adults aged 17 - 25, living in Basildon or Tendring. The group is targeted at individuals with low emotional wellbeing, using physical activity to help imrprove mental wellbeing and health during the transition to adulthood. 

Begginer cyclists are welcome, and we can provide free 121 cycle training if you need to build confidence before joining the group.
